IRL scientists lead investigation of long term clinical effects of widely prescribed medications in neurodegenerative disorders

IRL scientists publish an analysis of data from an observational study in Huntington disease (HD). The analysis addresses long term effects of antidopaminergic treatment in patients enrolled in the REGISTRY study, an European observational study of HD patients.  The study demonstrates that patients treated with antidopaminergic medication have a more rapid progression of disease.  The study adds further concern over the use of such medication in neurodegenerative disorders
